When I became a mother, I instantly fell in love with breastfeeding and decided to embark on a journey that allowed me to focus on supporting other women. Today, I am a Mother of two energetic and fun loving kids, a Certified Lactation Counselor, and after completing my internship as a frenotomy and breastfeeding assistant, I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, IBCLC. I volunteer within my community to support women with breastfeeding and their journey through motherhood. I wanted to create Nourishing Littles so that women have access to the most current information, as well as access to someone who can provide one-on-one support and help navigate through the overwhelming amount of information out there.
After college, I worked for Canon as a Technology Sales Executive. After working for nearly a decade and getting married, it was time to start planning for a family. I spent all of my spare time reading and researching everything there was about pregnancy and childbirth. I loved it. It fueled me and made me feel that I could make confident, well informed decisions for both myself and my growing baby. Honestly, I had no idea there was so much to learn.
Becoming a mother for the first time was scary and exciting, challenging and emotional. After having our first child, I joined the local new moms group and loved the feeling of support that surrounded us. I felt safe, I felt like we, as new mothers, were all going through our transition into motherhood together. It was amazing and a time I will cherish forever, not to mention encourage all other women to join a similar group. After a few weeks of attending, I was trying to find my voice to provide factual information regarding breastfeeding and be able to support my community outside of these meetings, for example at the parks, or playdates etc. The fact was though,I was still just another new mom with no breastfeeding education, just gut instinct and a few months of personal nursing experience. I took this as a sign and decided to embark on a journey that has been both challenging and extremely fulfilling.
The topic of breastfeeding is forever growing. It is my intention to decrease the overwhelm and confusion that comes with the abundance of information out there. My hope is to provide women with the warmth and love that I received when entering motherhood and be able to assist in achieving your goals, whatever they may be. You can do this! Let’s do it together!
